Velvet Beans are also popularly known as Kapikachu and Kaunch ke beej. Velvet Bean is an annual climbing vine that grows in tropical regions of Africa, India, China, and the West Indies. This plant produces a cluster of pods which contains seeds called Velvet Bean/Mucuna Bean.
Whole velvet bean can be made as Curry. It can be added in Dals and Pulao as well. Always remember to wash the beans thoroughly and soak for 10-12 hours before cooking. Keep changing the water while soaking and discard the water before cooking them.
